Dr. Michael Smith

General Dentist
Dr. Michael Smith was born and raised in Southern Alberta. He enjoyed a variety of sports growing up including baseball, basketball, track and field and volleyball. In high school he graduated at the top of his class. His undergraduate studies were completed at the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Science in Biological Sciences and Atmospheric Science.

Dr. Smith served as a missionary for the LDS church in Virginia for 4 months and then for 18 months in New Caledonia learning the French language.

Dr. Smith married Jodi Quinton, they have 4 children and presently reside in Raymond. Rather than stay in Edmonton for dental school Smith says: "I always had in my mind that I would stay in Edmonton for school but Halifax intrigued us and Dalhousie seemed like the right fit for me." He ended up enjoying Dalhousie's strong clinical emphasis along with the wonderful teaching staff. Dr. Smith graduated with distinction in addition to being awarded the University Gold Medal in Dentistry at the top of his class. While on the East coast, he and his family developed a love for the Maritimes and its people.

After Dental School, Dr. Smith had the unique opportunity to complete a one year hospital dental residency at the University of Alberta Hospital. This offered him valuable experience in treating patients in the hospital from all walks of life including: small children, special needs, cancer patients, trauma and the elderly. His residency included training and certification in IV sedation.

He looks forward to serving the people of Southern Alberta in the years to come.
