Dentures or Implants: Which is Right for You?

Dentures and dental implants can both be a great solution for missing teeth. When done by one of the clinics of the Able Dental Group, both options can be used to successfully restore your smile. So how do you choose between the two?

Let's take a look at some of the important differences between dentures and dental implants, and at how you can decide which one is better for you.

Dentures can be made either to replace all or just some of your teeth. Some of the benefits of dentures are that they tend to be the less expensive of the two options, that they are non-invasive, and that they require only a few dental visits to be properly fitted and made. Dentures, however, may need to be adjusted or even completely replaced over time, as poorly fitting dentures can lead to discomfort.

Dental implants are a much more permanent solution to teeth loss. Implants are anchored into your gums by a titanium post, and are then cared for just like regular teeth. One of the main benefits of dental implants is that they allow the bones in your mouth to continue to grow, and can therefore preserve the integrity of your bone structure. They do, however, require that you have healthy gums and bones to begin with.

Making the Right Choice

It can be difficult to decide which of the two options is right for you without first consulting a dental professional. You may not know, for example, if your gums and bones make you a good candidate for dental implants or if dentures are a better option for you.
