Root canals tend to have a bad reputation, but our patients report that the procedure is no more painful than having a cavity filled.
At Able Dental Group, our dentists are personally invested in your comfort and care. We do all we can to make your experience with us a good one, and we begin even now—by helping you learn more about root canals and what to expect when you come into any of our offices.

During A Root Canal
We can help reduce your stress by placing you under sedation while we remove, clean, and reinforce the damaged part of your tooth.
Why Do I Need a Root Canal?
When a tooth is damaged and decayed, root canal therapy is the best way to relieve discomfort and prevent future pain or infection. We want to save your tooth, ease your pain, and prevent the infection from spreading to other teeth or damaging your jawbone. Even more serious complications may arise if a root canal is not performed.
What Happens During a Root Canal?
Based on your dentist’s recommendation, you can ease any stress you may experience during a root canal through requesting nitrous oxide or another form of sedation. Once you are comfortable and relaxed, we treat your root canal using the following steps:
- We remove the damaged part of your tooth.
- We clean the infected area.
- We apply a sealant that prevents further infection.
- We fill the tooth with medicated dental material for reinforcement.
- We place a natural-looking porcelain crown over the damaged tooth.
When the procedure is over, you may feel tenderness for a few days. Over-the-counter pain medications can relieve any symptoms you may experience.
